Baranti is a small tribal village in the Raghunathpur subdivision of the Purulia. Baranti due to its effortlessly serene and peaceful environment has become one of the most famous gateways for people who seek to indulge in the virginity of nature and rejuvenate their souls by becoming one with the Mother Nature. 

Evening is the perfect time to stroll along the embankment of the lake. Baranti  Reservoir is a man made lake. Sunsets are spectacular as the fiery ball dips into the western shores of the lake, streaking the water and sky with a riot of colors.

The lake is a heaven for bird watchers and during winter several species of migratory birds can be spotted. Spring, too, is a good season, when the palash blooms, turning the entire region into a sea of red.

In the month of July and August, you will become spellbound on seeing the variety of Colorful Butterflies. Even if you are looking for wildlife experience, you may also find deer, wild boars and many other wild creatures when these wild animals come to drink water from the lake at night.

Nearby Attractions of Baranti

One can take a drive up to Panchet and Maithon Dam to soak in the beauty of the rivers.

Adventure lovers  can hike up Baranti Hill. The hilltop offers a breathtaking view of the dam and the rugged landscape that surrounds it.

There is Jaichandi Pahar nearby. The  famous Bengali movie "Hirak Rajar Deshe" was shot in Jaichandi Pahar.

Visiting Garphanchakot and Bihari Nath Pahar are other options one can explore.

Baranti Best time to Visit

Spring (March – May) is the best season, when the palash blooms, turning the entire region into a sea of red. 

Baranti in Monsoon (July – September) is much likely to have amazing evenings. The chirping of birds and the place surrounded by the lake and mountains will certainly take your heart away.
